STEPMOTHER

A new snow edit by Vans Russia

STEPMOTHER?!

Mother Russia is a popular Russian saying that Russian like to use when they refer to their own country. Russia is a very diverse and multicultural country that is home to Russians as well as 150 other nationalities. We have various climate areas and 11 different time zones. Russia for us is like the second mother or STEPMOTHER.

Vans Europe is excited to release Stepmother, a new project from the Russian crew.

Mother Russia is a popular Russian saying that locals like to use when they refer to their own country – a diverse and multicultural country with various climate areas and 11 different time zones. “Russia for us is like the second mother or STEPMOTHER”.

The project was filmed along the Volga River, in the cities of Nizhny Novgorod and Cheboksary. The Volga River is not only one of the main visuals of Russia and the longest river in Europe, but it's also a meeting zone where Europe meets Asia and the West meets the East. As for snowboarding, rivers erode landscapes and create downhills, resulting in incredible spots to shred.

Led by Nikita Sekh, the Vans Russia team united under the checkerboard flag to work on the first-ever national Vans snowboarding video. Nizhny Novgorod and Cheboksary turned out to be pure hidden reserves of all kinds of street snowboarding spots, from rail gardens to downtown freerides. The only extra thing that was needed was snow, and luckily for the snowboard world, Russian winters never disappoint.

The whole project lasted only 10 days, but each of those days was one to remember. Stepmother is available to watch now over on Method’s YouTube channel.
